11/20/2024 Update: The prototype had a good run! I had some builds of the prototype out in the world for a while, but now I've removed those builds after getting plenty of quality feedback. I don't have a timeline for the game's development (let alone a release) as it's not my active project right now, but I've been sketching some ideas for the art and am still charmed by the idea of the game every time I revisit it.

The pitch:

Nanjemoy is about a farm kid in the 90’s who’s been tasked with mowing the lawn and comes under attack by a host of biting insects. It's got quests, branching dialogue, and bug-smushing action.

My plan:

For this prototype I’ve built out the core quests and gameplay loops of the game. There are few-to-no animations, and the graphics, UI, SFX, and music are all placeholders.

Further on, I will then either create final versions of the placeholders myself, or partner with someone who’d take over as Art Director. I’ll add a more-complete story and ending, hidden objects, quests, and locations, and overall I will “juice” up the game in multiple places. I also intend to add four boss battles.
